Getting a smooth complexion

A lot of people compliment me on my smooth complexion. So I am giving a few tips today and show some of the products that I use.

The first step to having smooth skin is make sure that you have clean skin. To keep the bacteria off your face:

  1. STOP touching it!
Your hands touch a million things a day including bacteria. So when you go to touch your chin, guess where that pimple's new home is going to be? Also, talking on the phone will also break you out. Remember to wipe your phone off after use.
  2. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Either one with Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid. I actually use both. But not together because they can be irritating to the skin. I like Benzoyl Peroxide because it cleanses my face and dries up my pimples without leaving dark spots. One of my favorite cleansers is Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask. When it dries on the face it can be left on overnight to dry up pimples.
  3. Another face soap that leaves my skin soft is: Ambi Cocoa Butter soap.
I use it sometimes when washing my make up off. A tip to washing off make up: I wash my face 3 times to make sure I washed all of the make up off.
I just lather up 3 times and rinse 3 times, like when you wash you hair? Lather, Rinse, Repeat. I use this soap and it leaves my skin with a glow. It's moisturizing too.
The next thing you need to do to have smooth skin is to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. But don't do it too harshly.
I am in love with St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub.

It has tiny granule's in it gently wipe away that dirt and dead skin and it also contains Salicylic Acid. Another exfoliator I use sometimes, is from Bath & Body: True Blue Spa Apricot & White Tea Scrub.
It leaves your skin feeling moisturized. I wouldn't exfoliate every day. Once a week is fine.

The next thing you need is a toner that is going to get rid of the excess oil and balance your skin. Honestly, if I am breaking out bad, I will use rubbing alcohol as a toner and it dries up my pimples. But on normal days, I use Avalon Organics Vitamin C toner.

I bought it for the Vitamin C, which is an antioxidant. Antioxidants are good for your skin and helps to repair sun damage. You should use something with a little bit of alpha hydroxy in it. And things with lemon and citrusy toners are a gentle alpha hydroxy.

Now, You have cleansed, exfoliated, and toned. The last thing you need to do is moisturize! It would be good to use a moisturizer with sunscreen in it to help those dark spots fade faster. It is good to use a moisturizer that is oil-free, and calming to the skin.
Aloe Vera gel is a soother. Another good moisterizer is green tea moisturizer. I used to be hooked on Proactiv and I used their green tea moisturizer on my face. I had to buy a replacement though since I am no longer a Proactiv customer. Sorry, Proactiv :( . I found this stuff by Alba: Green Tea Moisturizer.

I use a few things on my face. But just know that the basics to smooth skin is to cleanse, exfoliate, toner, and moisturize. You really only need to do this once a day. Preferably at night before bed. I hope it helps.
